Our In Community programs bring the arts and a bit of BroadStage to everyone. From inside the theater, out on The Plaza, to local parks, school campuses, and other inviting locations, these programs provide a variety of engaging experiences. We welcome participants that are intergenerational, encompass all gender identities, include varied socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds, and strive to accommodate people of all abilities.

Pre-Show on The Plaza
Pop in for pre-show music on The Plaza before select performances at BroadStage. Come a bit early to catch student music groups who have worked with our Artist in Residence: Stanley Clarke, or who are part of a local music organization. Support the next generation of musicians as they develop their professional performance skills and share their arts passions with you.

Artist in Residence
Stanley Clarke has been mentoring Santa Monica College and Santa Monica High School students, as well as performing with them as we begin the 3rd and final year of this Artist Residency Program. Co-designed by Clarke, BroadStage, and school partners from SMC and Samohi, the Residency provides direct access and training by Clarke for students who are on the cusp of professional careers. Clarke, recently honored at the 2024 BroadStage Gala with the inaugural BroadStage Trailblazer Award, is working with BroadStage to lay the foundation for the destination jazz festival slated to debut in Santa Monica in 2026.

Student Nights
All students are welcome to all shows, but attending a Student Night is special. Groups of students from high schools, colleges and universities can pre-purchase their discounted tickets and they will be welcomed with a special treat as they arrive on The Plaza. Enjoy a great arts experience with fellow students from other schools on BroadStage Student Nights!
Community Field Trips (CFT)
BroadStage welcomes groups through partnerships with local organizations and institutions that work to provide equitable services for historically underserved, underrepresented or income-impacted individuals, students and/or families. Participants receive group discounts to attend performances and an opportunity to experience the arts in an impactful way.
Partnerships
BroadStage has ever-growing partnerships in Santa Monica that allow us to interact with new audiences and directly support local programs and events. We participate in city and college festivals, provide arts education for the local schools, and offer mentorship in arts administration, contributing to the artistic wellbeing of our greater community.
