Activations

We strive to activate the arts in everyone's lives.

BroadStage amplifies its commitment to the arts by fostering intergenerational learning and engagement. Through creative partnerships and community collaborations, we cultivate and express the arts beyond the stage and into the world.

What are Activations?

Activations are interactive programs that connect artists, patrons, students, and the community through workshops, talks, performances, and more – both at BroadStage and across Santa Monica. Imagine learning a dance move before a show, enjoying student music ensembles on the Plaza, or engaging with artists after a performance. BroadStage also contributes programming in local parks, lounges and festivals. Whether experienced as a quick happening or a curricular engagement, Activations are designed to make the arts accessible, for all to enjoy.

Pre-Show on The Plaza

Support the next generation of musicians as they develop their professional performance skills and share their arts passions with you on The Plaza before select performances at BroadStage. Come a bit early for a pre-show by student music groups who have worked with our Artist in Residence: Stanley Clarke, or who are part of a local music organization.

Activations at BroadStage are supported by Leonard M. Lipman Charitable Fund, The Herb Alpert Foundation, The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation, The Dwight Stuart Youth Fund, California Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, LA County Department of Arts & Culture, and the City of Santa Monica.
