The first season of Sunday Morning Music / Santa Monica will consist of four alluring programs guaranteed to delight and enchant any music lover.

We’ll begin in the acoustically magnificent Main Stage with Schubert’s poignant Octet for strings and winds performed by an ensemble of Los Angeles’ finest chamber musicians (Martin Beaver, violin; Jin-Shan Dai, violin; Teng Li, viola; Antonio Lysy, cello; Chris Hanulik, bass; Boris Allakhverdyan, clarinet; Andrew Bain, horn; Whitney Crockett, bassoon).

Then, we’ll gather in the warm intimacy of The Edye, where Los Angeles’ SAKURA Cello Quintet will dazzle with a program of film music and popular arrangements.

A special Valentine’s program follows, featuring works by Rachmaninoff, Bernstein, and Beethoven; soprano Julia Metzler and more will grace the stage.

The final program returns us to the Main Stage to celebrate the rhythms and sounds of Buenos Aires, featuring Antonio Lysy himself and complete with tango performance by the internationally-renowned dancers Miriam Larici & Leonardo Barrionuevo.

A note from Antonio about the exciting season ahead:

"Yehudi Menuhin, arguably one of the greatest musicians of the 20th Century, and one of my most cherished mentors, once said:

'Chamber music represents the highest form of music-making and, in fact, of living. A small group of people dedicate themselves to a common whole and leave everything that might separate them behind. This is an example to all people.'

Sunday Morning Music / Santa Monica brings together our city’s finest musicians and special guests, to perform a diverse and dynamic set of programs and engage with audience members in a meaningful way. Can’t wait to see you here…at BroadStage."
